For the first time, you can convert your tablets and smartphones into a tool for exploring the brain so as to better understand and prevent strokes (the third-greatest cause of death). On the occasion of Brain Week that was held from 11 to 17 March 2013, Cérébro, a new application was launched on the Iphone and Android. The application was created by four researchers in U 919. Cérébro is a free application which makes everyone a researcher exploring the human brain and performing the same tasks as the research team. The principle is simple: the application works thanks to a system of vignettes illustrating situations in everyday life. After choosing one of these vignettes, the user has 30 seconds in which to find the part of the brain affected by the stroke. This new application also works as a public health prevention tool since it incorporates an information plan to identify the preliminary symptoms of a stroke. Downloading The application is available for free from the AppStore (iPhone) and Google Play (Androïd). The vignettes, as well as the cubes and practical guides, are available at www.u919inserm.fr/cerebro For more information, contact Véronique Agin at INSERM Unit U919
