27 Mar 2013 | By INSERM (Newsroom) | Book

The table was published by Editions ECONOMICA, through scientific coordination with the NutriNet-Santé and presents the current data concerning the nutritional composition table of food used in the context of the NutriNet-Santé study.

Launched in France in May 2009, this study of a prospective observation cohort (www.etude-nutrinet-sante.fr) developed by the INSERM/Inra/Cnam/University of Paris 13 Mixed Research Unit in collaboration with the Nutritional Supervision and Epidemiology Unit (InVS/University Paris 13) aimed at:
1) a better understanding of the relationship between nutrition and health,
2) identifying the determinants of dietary and nutritional behaviour of the population living in France.

The publication of this table responds to a threefold initiative:

  • Authorizing the database access to the publications of the NutriNet-santé study to all those who wish to interpret the results presented or compare them with their own database.
  • Offering a complete dietary table to the scientific community that could be used for research in the field of nutritional epidemiology.
  • Providing a new tool to healthcare professionals to better treat their patients.

The table published provides the composition into 43 nutrients for 2,122 foods.

For each nutrient the data is expressed for 100 g of the food as consumed.
