Malaria is a parasitical disease transmitted by mosquitoes and is potentially fatal. Climatic conditions play an important role in the transmission of this parasite, which affects the prevalence and survival of mosquitoes.

Malaria starts with a fever that may be accompanied by headaches, muscular pains and vomiting.

According to the WHO (World Health Organization), in 2010, malaria was responsible for 660,000 deaths

(with a margin of uncertainty of between 490,000 and 836,000).

On the occasion of World Malaria Day, held on Thursday 25 April, Inserm is making available contact with Benoit Gamain, to ask any questions you may have about this illness.
